ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO 2 [ARC 1126]- Project 2: Boat Pavilion

Design Proc
 Design Process

From the postcard inspiration, in a group of 2, we designed a boat pavilion with a volume in the form of a solid cube 3 x 3 x 3 meter for the purpose of resting, storing, observing and working for a ranger. A set of a series of plan, elevations and sections, axons and models were produced to explore the access, circulation and fenestration of the boat pavilion.

Learning Outcomes

- Use design elements such as space, surfaces, openings and partitions in the design of a simple architectural space
- Interpret and analyze simple site context
- Interpret and analyze client’s character and needs in relation to the design of a small building

The aim of this project is to generate form and space through architectural conceptualisation, with the emphasis on exploring the user requirement and simple spatial organization skills and design intentions to develop an architectural proposition. Students will be shown the importance of using the art of crafting and making: drawing(s) and model(s) as a critical design tool as part of the design process.

In group of two, we began with a volume in the form of a solid cube 3 x 3 x 3 meter. By selecting a ranger as our client, we designed a structure of delight for the purpose of resting, storing, observing and working. The structure must respond to the users need in which furniture and appliances are required to fit and incorporate with the spatial planning. This structure should correspond to the site that we have chosen so adequate access, circulation and fenestration are mandatory.
